Although we talk a lot about energy transition in the Netherlands, China puts its money where its mouth is.
When it comes to CO2 emissions and pollution, people often point the finger at China - the low-tech country with heavy industry. But in the real climate story, the situation in China is very different than most people realize. While we can fill up with hydrogen in 4 places in the Netherlands, our Teesing branch in Beijing sells large quantities of parts for hydrogen filling stations.
China has by far the largest CO2 emissions on earth. But then it has 1.4 billion inhabitants. However, it is on track to reach its climate target 10 years earlier than agreed in the Paris Agreement. China has recently invested three times as much as the U.S. in renewable energy production and now produces more green energy than any other country. There are a combined 400,000 electric buses in cities, all produced in China. Of all the EVs sold in the world, 60% are produced in China and bought by its people. In Beijing, the streets are quiet because the majority of vehicles are electric.
China has 30,000 km of high speed lines in operation. That's 3 times as many as in all of Europe. China is the world leader in electric bicycles, electric scooters and scooters and 8 of the 10 largest producers of solar panels are in China. A wind turbine is added every hour. China has a reforestation program running for an area the size of the whole of France in which 38 billion trees have already been planted since 1990. Impressive, to say the least.
China is not aiming to embrace 1 green energy source: they are doing it all. So in addition to battery electric driving, the growth of hydrogen electric driving is huge. For years. That's why there are more and more hydrogen filling stations, all equipped with WEH vulnozzles, breakaways and hoses supplied by Teesing China (WEH vulnozzles TK16, TK17 and TK25 for example).
Pictured is a Sinopec H2 bus fueling station, in Jiashan City, Zhejiang Province. The buses themselves are equipped with WEH connectors TN1 and TN5. The hydrogen is brought to the refueling station by trucks and locally brought to 350 bar by compressors in the refueling station.
